Sony OLED problems we fix
- No picture / black screen — on OLED this is a T-con, power or main board fault (not a backlight).
- Vertical or horizontal lines — panel driver or T-con faults.
- Image retention or burn-in — faint ghost images of logos or tickers.
- Turns off by itself or won't power on — power board or main board.
- Flicker or brightness pumping — board or firmware issues.
About burn-in and image retention
Temporary image retention often clears by itself. Sony OLEDs run an automatic panel refresh after the TV is switched off with standby power connected — so keep the TV plugged in at the wall overnight rather than switching it off at the socket. A manual Panel Refresh is in Settings, but use it sparingly (it is meant for occasional use). True permanent burn-in cannot be repaired; only a panel replacement removes it, and we will advise honestly whether that is worth it.
